[ Que a lone looking individual by the shore, looking out into the horizon. Inhale, exhale. It was early, very early for most people, but Ias loved the beach when it was just them and the mass of water with very little distractions. The sound, the smell, it has always forever called them for whatever reason.
First, they started in a walk, then a jog then a full-blown run along the sand, hard gaze focused ahead, sand flying from the effect from the pounding of feet. Their sea stained clothes flurrying upon their body. ]
[ Ias is so focused on their speed, they don't see or notice a young woman. However, they do slow down, silently exhaling from the jog, and gave themself time to breathe.
Unclipping the water bottle from their holster, they brought the nozzle to their lips, taking a swig of the liquid before sighing. Normally, they would have their music to play along as they jogged, but the brunet wanted to actually hear the sea and all the sounds before putting on their workout playlist.
[ Started at the sound of the sneeze, whirled in Nita's direction, wide-eyed as they saw someone there Ias did not see before. Brow furrowed, dark eyes narrowed in concern. ]
Ah man, did I get sand on you?!
[ Ias would want to help unless Nita stopped them. ]
[ Brows furrowed still at the other's response. A brow quirked at the "come here often" line, almost tempted to tease the other with that, but seeing the state of the other, along with Ias' own nerves meeting new people, decided to let it go for now. Nita gets a soft, apologetic smile instead. ]
Sorry about that, I should pay more attention to my surroundings then. But if you're sure I didn't get sand on you...
[ They trailed off for a moment, looking into the horizon, then back. ]
Actually, I just came here to visit for a bit. I've never been to this side of the country, with the exception of the few other states. I like just starting my mornings like this.
The older returns the wink with a bemused smile that reached their eyes. One fist rested on their hip, the other hand relaxed on their side, they regard Nita a moment.
"I think so," They continued with a shift in their stance and softened their gaze to something wistful. "I've lived by oceans for most of my life, it just...becomes apart of you."
"Cities are neat too. I haven't been in New York before, but this was one of my set destinations." Ias relaxed their fist to have just a hand on their hip. "You've lived around here long then?"
Ias gave back an odd smile, unstretched themself and walked down the further edge, thinking over their conversation with the nice, quirky girl they encountered. Maybe at some point, later on, they would meet again.

[Eyes now open, she searches for... whoever that was. Presumably they weren't expecting to see anyone here this early either?]

They still haven't seen Nita yet. ]

And then, because sometimes Nita's luck was just that terrible, she sneezes.]
Ah- ahCHOO!
[Reflexively, she steps backward.]
Sorry.

D'you come by here often? Hate to say I haven't seen you before, but...

Date: 2018-12-04 12:45 am (UTC)If anything, I got sand on myself; hardly the worst that's ever happened here.
[She winks - what's more, Nita is telling the truth here.]
It's a good routine. D'you get to practice it at home all that much? The ocean part, not necessarily the jogging.
[Maybe Ias hadn't moved quite coast-to-coast? Nita isn't sure.]

I'm from a bit closer to Manhattan, myself; the city's kind of had that effect on me.
[Oceans of life, meet streets of gold. Or something along those lines...]

"Ah, and my name's Nita. What's yours?"

"Likewise."
I think we can end this here, but maybe a time skip for other ocean/mer oriented things?
Date: 2018-12-11 09:03 pm (UTC)"Thanks, I like yours too."
After a moment not speaking, Ias stretched their arm across their body and sighed. They weren't really sure what else to say to this stranger.
"Well, anyway. Sorry for keeping you from your meditation. Maybe I'll see you around?"
Sounds good! An oddly-familiar face while on a deep-sea errantry, perhaps?
